La Romareda stadium is Zaragoza’s football ground, where Real Zaragoza’s home matches are played. Designed by the architect Francisco Riestra, the stadium was officially opened on 8 September 1957 and can seat up to 35,000 fans.
This stadium was a venue for the 1982 World Cup and ten years later it also hosted events for the Olympic Games. At that point, it was put forward as an Olympic Stadium.
As well as hosting important sports events, the stadium is used for concerts and other large performances. The complex includes a small football museum, where the most glorious moments of Real Zaragoza are on display through its trophies, photographs and shirts. Next to the museum is the team’s official shop, which sells Real Zaragoza’s current season kit along with all other kinds of team merchandise.
La Romareda stadium is in a central part of the city, where many of Zaragoza’s most important places are found, such as the Municipal Sports Hall, the University of Zaragoza and the Miguel Servet University Hospital. A few metres away from the stadium you’ll find the Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta, a large green space where you can go for long walks and enjoy the local nature.
This area is one of the busiest in the city, as it is the focal point for most of the cultural events and historic buildings. Because of this, the best option is to get to the area by car and then park in our Saba car park at number 44, Avenida Juan Carlos I
