Situated on Plaza del Mercado, next to the Lonja de la Seda (the Silk Exchange) and Plaza de la Ciutat de Bruges, is Valencia’s Central Market. This place is full of life and colours and is home to around 400 stalls and shops. You may also be surprised to know that it is Europe’s largest market specialising in fresh produce, with no fewer than 1,500 people involved in its daily activity.

The building is an example of Spanish Modernism and was designed by the architects Francesc Guàrdia i Vial and Alexandre Soler.

This market is a major attraction both for locals and for tourists, as it is a feast for the eyes and an amazing visual spectacle. The unbelievable amount of high-quality products that are stacked up high on the display counters, many of them arranged by colour, is unparalleled. The gorgeous stained glass windows with floral motifs and crests shed a gentle iridescent light around the interior of the building, giving it a special warmth. It’s open Mondays to Saturdays, 7.30 am to 2.30 pm and is closed on Sundays. If you wish, you can park your vehicle nearby in one of our Saba public car parks in Valencia Nord Train Station, at 24 Calle Xàtiva. This is our closest car park to Valencia city centre and the Central Market.
