Gran Vía is one of Madrid’s main streets, stretching from Calle de Alcalá up to Plaza de España. When it was built in the early 20th century it had a huge impact on the city in terms of commerce, tourism and entertainment.

Gran Vía is famous for its cinemas and, in particular, for its theatres, which offer one of the best and most comprehensive range of shows in Europe. The section between Plaza de Callao and Plaza de España is known as Madrid’s Broadway. Meanwhile, the part that stretches from San Luis to Plaza de Callao has numerous international clothing chains and constitutes one of the city’s main shopping areas. A shopping trip here is an unforgettable experience.

Gran Vía was originally built as a thoroughfare to connect the eastern and western sides of the city, but it also changed the lifestyle of the residents of Madrid, as it attracted the city’s first department stores, luxury boutiques, large cinemas and cafés that were all very popular in the street's early decades. Initially, the street was built in three sections, each of them named after a notable person of the time. Avenida A was called Calle Eduardo Dato; the Bulevar was called Avenida de Pi y Maragall and Avenida B was called Calle del Conde de Peñalver.

To enjoy a stress-free afternoon of shopping without worrying about your car, you can use our Saba public car park on Plaza de los Mostenses. This car park is open 24 hours a day, has spaces for disabled persons, vehicle surveillance and VIA-T at entry and exit. There’s also a car wash service available.
