Parking in Plaza de Sant Jaume (City Hall) - Barcelona

This historically and culturally significant space is located at the heart of the city, in the Barri Gòtic. In fact, it’s only a five minute walk from Plaza Catalunya. To get there, just walk down Las Ramblas and take a left on Calle Ferran.

Once you reach this Gothic and Renaissance style square, you can’t miss the Palau de la Generalitat opposite the City Hall. The latter is sometimes known as La Casa de la Ciutat and its façade dates back to 1874, although the main construction was started in 1369. Its Neoclassical features set it apart from the rest of the buildings on the square. It has an important place in the minds of Catalans as it represents the city’s autonomy.

Opposite the City Hall is the impressive Palau de la Generalitat, which has also played an important role in the history of the Catalan people. Built under the supervision of four different Catalan architects between 1410 and 1691, its beautiful Catalan Renaissance façade and long history earned it recognition as a Cultural Heritage Site in 1931. It is an unmissable piece of architecture that should not be overlooked.

Close to the square, on Avenida de la Catedral, there is one of our Saba car parks, which is easy to access and will simplify your visit to the city’s cultural centre, where it is rather difficult to find available parking.
